Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle

Physical Damage Appraisers License Information

1 year License

Please be certain you meet the minimum training or experience requirements "before" testing and applying for a license or your application will be denied. Any questions contact the Pennsylvania Insurance Department at 717-787-3840.

To Apply for the Appraiser's license, you must first successfully pass the two-part exam.

First

Schedule the written exam at a Prometric test center. They can be reached by phone: 800-786-3926 or through their web site prometric.com

The fee that is paid to Prometric covers both parts of the exam with the exception of retests and no shows.

Once you have taken the written exam and obtained your Score Report from Prometric, it is your responsibility to schedule an appointment for the practical exam.

Second

The practical exam is conducted at:

Vale Training Solutions
5070B Ritter Road, Suite 130
Mechanicsburg, PA 17055

Please call 717-790-9950 extension 101 to schedule.

Prometric does not forward your Score Report to Vale. We need to have a copy of your Score Report on file before you can take the practical test. It can be faxed to 717-790-9506. Please lighten on a photocopier before faxing so it is easier to read.

The test is given on Saturday mornings promptly at 9 am except holiday weekends. Please arrive no later than 8:45 am. Once testing has begun, no-one will be admitted - no exceptions. You are allotted 1 hour to complete the estimate and should anticipate being at the test facility for approximately 1 1/2 hours.

Your passing results will be submitted to the PA Insurance Department no later than the Tuesday following your test. We will not give test results by phone.

Your passing results will be e-mailed to you for your records.

If you must retake the practical exam, you must wait 30 days from last test date. A retest fee will apply.

Cancellations should be made by Wednesday before the test date to avoid a cancellation fee.
