Students will be exposed to the knowledge and skills necessary to enable them to make decisions regarding liability and develop an understanding of the principals of comparative and contributory negligence as well as other state specific issues.
The focus of the course is on claims handling from the first notice of loss to the settlement and closure of the claim. We will concentrate on the components and methods of investigating and determining legal liability, evaluation of damages, reserving, reporting, and negotiating and settlement practices.
Students will build skills, increase confidence and be encouraged to make analytical decisions regarding auto liability claims. Students participate in workshops and hands on application of skills in exercises involving claims handling in order to increase development and practice in auto liability claims handling.
